The Mountain Shop is located in Tha Khao Village, inside the Sea Gypsy Restaurant, between the pier and the bungalows.
How to Get Here:
Ferries arrive daily from Phuket, Krabi, and Phang Nga. Getting here from Phuket is the most convenient—there are several boats a day.
NOTE: The ferry schedule changes often and sometimes is dependent upon the tide. The schedule below was updated November 2012.
Local buses leave from the fresh market in Phuket Town to Bang Rong Pier everyday from 9:00am to 1:00pm. You can hire a taxi from anywhere on Phuket. From the Heroines Monument, take route 4027 east. Turn right at the sign for Bang Rong. Boats depart Bang Rong Pier for Koh Yao Noi (usually stopping briefly to unload passengers at Koh Yao Yai) every day at: 7:30 (speedboat), 8:30, 9:20, 9:45 (speedboat), 10:30, 11:00 (speedboat), 12:30, 13:15 (speedboat), 14:30 (speedboat), 15:30 (speedboat), 16:00 (speedboat), 17:00 and 17:30 (speedboat). You can also hire a private boat from Bang Rong Pier. If you are coming from the airport, take a taxi from the airport to Bang Rong Pier. Allow 30 minutes for the trip. Boats from Phuket arrive at Tha Manok pier (or occasionally Sukha pier). Tuk tuks will be waiting to meet the ferry--the cost is 100 baht per person to Tha Khao.
Local buses leave from near the Vogue Department Store in Krabi Town to Thalen Pier at about 11:30 am. If you miss the bus, take a motorbike taxi to Ao Thalen. Boats depart Thalen Pier for KYN everyday at 9:00, 10:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, 16:00, 17:00, and sometimes 17:30. From Ao Nang, it is possible to rent a taxi to take you to Ao Thalen. Allow 45 minutes for the trip. Boats from Krabi arrive in Tha Khao about a 5 minute walk from The Mountain Shop.
From Phang Nga:
Local buses leave from the Phang Nga bus station to Thadan Pier at 11am. The boat leaves the pier for KYN at 1pm (off Sundays).
From Tonsai/Railay/Ao Nang:
Catch the speedboat ferry on West Railay (10:30) or in Ao Nang at the north end of Nopparathara Beach (11:00). This boat brings you to Tha Makok Pier; take a tuk tuk (100 baht per person) to Tha Khao.
Or, take a taxi from Ao Nang to Ao Thalen (see Krabi section above).
You can also rent a private longtail boat from Tonsai/Railay/Ao Nang direct to Koh Yao Noi.
