About Koh Yao Noi

Koh Yao Noi is located in Phang Nga Bay, between Phuket and the international climbing destinations of Railay/Ton Sai. It has been said many times that visiting Koh Yao is like stepping back in time. A small island, KYN has only had electricity for a few years. Most locals make a living by fishing and farming. The people are extremely friendly, and there is a strong sense of community here.

The island is slowly becoming popular as a tourist destination, and is getting busier as more people discover this paradise. But the local government has been careful to avoid the mass development that has happened on other islands. The people here want to preserve the beauty of the island as well as their culture. Each of the villages has its own mosque, so wherever you are on the island, you will likely hear the call to prayer. You can step off the main road and watch a fisherman bringing in his catch, or see rice being harvested.
